Fire Agate
Fire Agate displays all the colors of the rainbow. The explosion of colors comes from numerous, very thin layers of iron oxide within Chalcedony. Fire Agate deposits only occur within two general areas - the Sonoran Desert - from Mexico to Arizona and the Sierra Madre Mountains of California. These were regions of intense volcanic activity 24-36 million years ago. The stone itself was not introduced to the public until after World War II. It is one of the most difficult cab materials to cut - few people buy rough material because it's such a gamble. This keeps availability scarce and makes it relatively unknown to the public. Fire Agate is a durable stone suitable for all jewelry types. Our collection of Fire Agate Jewelry consists of stones we've sourced. We prefer to use Deer Creek Fire Agate from the Galiuros Mountains west of Safford, Arizona and Slaughter Mountain Fire Agate from the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation in Arizona. These locations have the most vibrant colors and patterns. We do not have much Fire Agate inventory at this time. Please see Gallery Section for ideas on custom pieces we can create for you. We offer layaway on our Gold Jewelry. Please contact us for details.
